La Sconosciuta (I)
Tornatore was one of my favorite directors, because he was an old man who could tell stories well just like friends of my father did. From ldquo;Nuovo cinema Paradisordquo; to ldquo; The Legend of 1900rdquo;, I slowly learned a truth about a ldquo;liferdquo;, the philosophic concept of this Italian old man.
The film ldquo;La Sconosciutardquo; was also a movie which was a bit tricky to interpret. If I told the story of this film word by word, the original conception the film wanted to show would be lost. However, the old Tornatore never let me down once, because his films would always impress me again and again to arouse the respondence from the most secret parts hidden in my heart. So it was not very exaggerated to call him as a ldquo;masterrdquo;. Among many foreign directors, Tornatore was probably the one who gave the Chinese audiences the most direct and honest pictures. As in my opinion, I also loved directors with a sincere attitude.
You could also see the Tornatore-style depiction in the film ldquo;La Sconosciutardquo;, although it was hidden deep in the film, you could still find some traces from some tiny details. A woman faced other people with different faces: a mother, a prostitute, a wife, or a nanny. In this film, you could see her short lifetime, but you could also see her mad behaviors. When you were watching this film, you couldnrsquo;t even get a clue on what this woman was trying to do. However, after you carefully watched this film to the end, you would finally understand she was just a mother who was bearing a great grief. Unfortunately, she didnrsquo;t know where her nine children were. When she dug up the dead body of her lover from the garbage station with a serious moldy smell which was flooded by flies, you could hear her wails which sculled through the sky just like those flying birds did.
